Tulips—more than 13,000 of them—are peaking in the West Side Community Garden right now, and the 1.25-acre oasis is ablaze with color.

The only privately owned space of its kind in the city, the garden is located on West 89th Street between Amsterdam and Columbus avenues, and is open to the public daily from dawn to dusk. The tulips, cultivated entirely by volunteers, will be blooming through the first week in May, so there’s still a bit of time left to see them.

Rag editor Laura Muha spent an afternoon there last week; here’s some of what she saw.
