Thanks to another post on here, I've worked out what this is but I need some help on eradicating it all.

I have a front garden (sandpit) which is over 10x10m and getting taken over by this weed.

There's currently no other plants or vegetation I need to worry about, it's a heavily compacted sandy soul which I'm slowly trying to turn over to get to bulb level but I'm not sure what to try. I gave it all a spray of Roundup but that barely touched it. I've seen recommendations for a big plastic tarp in summer, but I'm not sure it'll work now that it's autumn.

Can anyone recommend a specific eradication method for these buggers?

Thank you very muchly 😊 🌻

I use cotton tips dipped in neat weedmaster duo, touched onto foliage of the plants, kills easily

seeings it is in a confined area you have two choices, first one is easy, smother the whole sandpit in newspapers after newspapers after …well you get the drift, it will soon wipe it out, keep the top layer damp and hold down with heavy objects. Harder way is to get a very fine very large sieve and shovel the sand through it, do that until every plant is pulled and every tuber which are quite small are captured in the sieve, bag it in garbage bags and sit to the side for a few years so you cant pass the problem on. PS the news papers will work it just takes time

Depends how much you like fire. A weed torch that runs on mapp gas or LPG (don’t bother with the butane ones) will knock it down quickly and then keep doing it till the bulbs are exhausted.

You can also use a contact killer like Slasher however you will be reapplying till the bulbs are exhausted.
