Yes! Got a tree of my own this year, but across the street by the creek there is a very tall one 🙂

They are rapidly raising in popularity in Central/Eastern Europe, especially here in Hungary.
It’s being marketed as a blueberry alternative that grows in alkaline soil. Saskatoon/serviceberry went from unknown 5 years ago to every random nursery selling at least 6-8 named cultivars now.
I like them, but personally I don’t think they’re that close to blueberries in taste or texture. Haskap is much closer to being a proper replacement.
Amelanchier likes our climate more than haskap though, they can take anything from -40C to +40C in full sun and even tolerate drought. One of the most promising fruit shrubs for the future.

saskatoon berry is very good and simple to grow,i prefer wild ones
Yes, but the birds get them here.
But this tree may be nearing the end of it’s life. It hasn’t been looking too happy ever since I moved to this place.
