This is a basic idea of our house that we are building located in Barossa Valley, SA. As you can see, we have a very large front garden, around 15m long by 20m wide. What would you do with this space? There will be no front fence as no one in our area has one. We are first home builders, so we don’t want to spend a fortune! I like crepe myrtle’s, i currently have a magnolia in a pot that I would like to plant, and I would like to put some viburnums along the right fence at the front as our neighbour has put up fencing basically all the way to the road (no one else has it this far down!). Any suggestions/ ideas welcome!

Not really inspo, but this brings me great joy to see something that is not a block with wall to wall house. Enjoy whatever you create.

I for one love natives, layered planting, water, safe spaces to encourage birds into your garden. If i were in your shoes (and had the budget) that entire front would have 0 lawn and be all garden, winding paths, creating wonder at every turn.

Why not go for a walk in your new neighbourhood for inspiration? A good way to see what kind of plants look happy in the same area. Thinking about sightlines is a good start – where would you benefit from something tall, or bushy?

Is there a particular reason you have the house sited so far back on the block? The north is to the rear so that is best living and garden space.

I would site the house as far forward as possible and take advantage of a northern facing back yard.
