Amitostigma keiskei ‘Ooiwachidori’

Amitostigma keiskei (aka Plover orchid) is a neat little temperate orchid from Japan. Grown from small tubers, these orchids flower quickly after sprouting. After flowering is finished, lots of water is necessary to build strong tubers for next years generation. In the fall, after the plant has died back to the ground, I dig up all the tubers and store dry in the refrigerator over winter. I wish these orchids were more readily available in the states, it really is a darling plant.
