First summer with these guys and the roots are going wild. They were all seedlings when I bought them and made it through winter with them. Do I cut back the roots or repot and put some screening on the bottom of the pot to avoid roots wandering? Thanks in advance!

  1. I would repot into something taller and not trim the roots

While you can gently remove old, dead roots, these ones are still white/green and removing them will hurt the plant. As another commenter said, I’d suggest planting them in a deeper pot. I planned on putting my next pitchers into sapling pots.

Trimming active roots is almost never the solution compared to repotting in a taller pot.

Why would you ever cut the roots to a plant?
