We hired a new guy to cut our lawn and noticed he doesn’t bag the clippings (which is fine) but we noticed he blew the clippings against my neighbors fence. Is this a common/standard practice? Haven’t seen anything like this before and don’t know if I’m wrong about thinking this isn’t right.

Nah. All the grass near the fence is going to die. Its also going to start rotting the bottom of that fence because its going to trap moisture.
nah bruh
Every mower I’ve had has evenly distributed the clippings across the lawn and avoided areas that get a lot of use (patio, playground, etc). This looks wrong
Makes them easier to rake up –
🤷♂️
Have we run out of things to complain about? This has got to be rage bait. Please tell me it’s a joke. Seriously?

Just tell him you prefer the clippings to be mulched and left on the lawn. This isn’t standard practice but for now you can rake them up and bag.
You told him to blow the yard? Why not tell him to bag the grass instead?
He probably forgot to bag it.
Just get a robo lawn mower
If he’s going to all that trouble why not bag them
If he’s going to leave the clippings he needs to double cut/mulch them and leave them where they fall.
Fire him
He should either be picking them or mulching them. Just blowing them all onto your fence is wild lol
He needs to bring his butt back and clean up the mess in the yard!
Nope he is being lazy. You don’t leave grass like that.
Your neighbor won’t be happy when the bottom of his fence rots out.
Unacceptable.
I’m hoping he just forgot to pick them up. This is such a strange thing to do.
I used to help my dad with landscaping when i was a teen and he always taught me that it’s important to always leave the yard looking spectacularly clean by picking up any clippings and to bag it up. That’s how he was able to keep clients and some even gave him more than what he charged them because of how clean he left the yard looking afterwards.
This right here looks like a half done job. I noticed it’s a common practice within the landscaping business for the workers to leave yard clippings behind after leaf blowing them back into the yard or just simply leaving it like that and expect the customer to deal with it after and i always wonder why they do that…
It’s more satisfying when you cut it yourself honestly

This is weird. Don’t know why they would do this. Either mow without a bag and let the clippings evenly spread or use a bag and throw the clippings in the green waste.
He is now the old guy
The grass against the fence will die for sure. Tell him to stop doing that. And why isn’t he mulching them?
First and last day at its finest
Slopy job
Wouldn’t say common practice with lawns BUT if you ever wanted to add border or strip plantings along the fence line, this is how you would start. Minus the material actually touching the fence.
Do you really need to ask reddit about this? You’re polling like a few thousand people about a question that a functioning adult should be able to answer themselves.
The clippings look pretty long, so long that there was no solution except leaving rows in the lawn or having someone mow with a bagging and disposal system. It would have been a lot of extra work to get all the clippings against the fence. Were I the new guy, I’d replace you as a client. If you want clippings spread you need to mow every 4 days in prime growing season.
It would be his first and last time doing my yard.
That is lazy and unprofessional. He should know better than that
Doesn’t he have a bag that catches the clippings?
Probably went with the cheapest company they could find.
Mow and blow morons in my neighborhood just blow it out into the street and leave. I hate those guys.
Well did he pick them up?
Maybe he wants to kill that strip of lawn at the base of the fence so he doesn’t have to use the string trimmer… or just a bonehead. Either way it’s wrong
