I generally have had bad luck with Oncidiums in the past. Pretty much every one I buy ends up with root rot or thrips, despite my "best" efforts. I finally managed to keep one happy enough to not only NOT DIE, but actually rebloom!!

I generally have had bad luck with Oncidiums in the past. Pretty much every one I buy ends up with root rot or thrips, despite my “best” efforts. I finally managed to keep one happy enough to not only NOT DIE, but actually rebloom!!


I fought thrips HARD on this lovely lady. I'm not sure how many years I've had her, but I really needed these lovely fragrant blooms. I've had a hard time over the past year and a half, so this is an extra special success, since my plants tend to suffer when I do.

    Hiya they’re not difficult, I’ve had some for many years. But some are definitely more touchy than others and I’ve had some go down and die randomly. So I think it depends on the hybrid and how healthy it is when you get it home (those potted in bad media with 2 pseudobulbs etc will likely be vigorous eventually if they survive that initial setback).
