I am quite new to taking care of plants so bear with me. I have had this philodendron painted lady since August, and it is now the end of April. I'm not sure if this changes anything but I'm in Montreal.
The plant is sitting on the side my desk near a window facing south-east with a pine tree in front of it, so it blocks some light. It is in the pot that it originally came in, with another pot around it so the water from the drainage holes has somewhere to go. I water it around once a week, checking when the soil is dry. However recently I've noticed when I water it the water is coming out from the drainage holes a lot quicker than before.
Recently there have been small brown bits speckled on some leaves and on the edges of others, as pictured above. I really am not sure what happened..?
Also the wooden stake it has is quite short now, should I replace it? If so, is there a specific process? I'm worried I'm going to get something wrong and ruin it if I touch anything like that.

that plant should be getting a LOT more light, leaves show no color variegation at all. cataphylls should be a strong pink/red. waaaay too little light.
check the water through the pot w/ bamboo skewer pushed in all the way to the bottom to see when to water-not because it’s tuesday 😉
philos should be in a good chunky aroid mix substrate, watered thoroughly, then let to almost dry between waterings (only very bottom of pot should be damp by next watering).
a moss pole is prob’ly best way to go for a painted lady.

Not an expert but love me a philodendron! Anyway as for the water coming out quickly now, you might need to get her a larger pot only 1 to 2 sizes larger, and new airoid medium not just plain potting soil, since she seems in need of an up potting and the stick is short now is when you decide if you want to venture into moss poles or not, personally I’d just use a coco coir pole that doesn’t need to be kept moist but that’s a personal choice. As for the brown tips/spots possibly from the fact she’s drying out too quickly or could be the water it’s self, I only use spring or filtered water to avoid the chemicals like chlorine, chloromide and fluride, rain water is best but yeah not always available. You can also get water conditioner for fish tanks that removes the chlorine and it chloromide. Coco coir pole pictured with a Philo Betty Waterbury as an example.
