I was told that nasturtiums were a good trap crop for kale… it appears that the trap was the kale

Lacinato is the favorite variety of kale for the buggos. In my garden the curly leaf kale wich is right next to it is usually munched on much less

Looks that way …… I have also used nasturtiums and actually observed the butterflies laying their eggs on them. But at the same time, many have also ‘smashed’ my various brassicas a well! The only non-chemical based method I have had any real success with has been to cover the crop with net. Even then some of the buggers have managed to get in (but much less).

I use Tokyo Bekana as my trap crop, it is very, very tasty buggo meal

haha..nature is so ironic sometimes. I tried using collard greens as a trap crop for my broccolini once, and the pests just used the collards as a staging ground before obliterating both.
