Apologies for the hideous photo quality, I was too excited to move it to a better backdrop – or even remove the dog hair… but I am so over the moon!
I got this plant last summer *without knowing exactly what it was* – this community helped me figure that out! Though I’m not a stranger to orchids or plant care in general, I knew this little plant would likely have some specific needs. You lovely people helped identify her as an Encyclia, and gave me a few tips and jumping-off points for me to research.
Since then, she has put out a buttload of roots, a new psuedobulb, and yesterday she blessed me with the most beautiful little bloom and my heart just can’t take it!

I don’t live in a greenhouse – my crappy 1b1b college-town apartment has 1 lousy window that faces east, and no central air, but I have kept everybody and everything alive so far – including this precious plant!
Upon graduation, I will be moving into a house with my beautiful partner and immediately designating a plant room so that I can chase this feeling forever!
