First time growing an avocado from the pit! It was always in water before the bottom leaves started drooping (with a faded appearance) and the pit turned darker and a bit wrinkely. I wasn’t immediately able to plant it in a pot, but it has been in this pot for three days now. It’s outside with warm weather and a couple hours of sun everyday. Will it survive? Can I do something else to save it? Fertilizer or cutting it?

It’s fine, just let the soil completely dry out before watering again. Not sure on fertilizer at this point. Avocados like slow, deep watering once bigger, let the sink or hose trickle at the base and let it go for 15 to 30 minutes ( this is for much later when it could be transplanted into the ground ). The pit will dry up and eventually fall off, don’t mess with it. If you’re worried about mold you can use cinnamon just sprinkle on the top of the soil or anywhere you want to discourage mold growth. Good luck! I had a small tree years ago that I transplanted into my yard, I no longer live there but I wonder sometimes if the tree is still there! You can grow pineapple tops the same way FYI 😉
