I’m trying to grow dahlias for the first time and my 15 tubers have been left alone indoors in compost for 2 weeks now after an initial watering when potted
Most have big obvious sprouts but a couple have multiple tiny flimsy things laying on the soil surface
Are these the sprouts and I’ve done something wrong?
Do I just need to wait longer?

This is an automatic reminder regarding r/dahlias Rule 3:
When reasonable*, posters should make a good-faith effort to identify which variety/varieties are shown in their photo(s). If you don’t know for certain, please say so. Someone will usually know!
*Common-sense exceptions to this rule will be honored, such as if the photo does not contain a blossom, or if your photo contains large volumes (such as in wide field shots).
If you’ve already done this, thank you! No further action required.
If not, please add a reply to this comment and confirm if you know the name of your dahlia variety/varieties shown in the photo(s). Alternately, if you’re uncertain of the variety name(s), it’s ok to say that, too.

I could be wrong I’m sure someone else will comment but, in my experience some of them just bloom later than others, I had four varieties I planted this year and I was sure one of them all the tubers were duds but I planted one just for the heck of it and a month later than the rest of the varieties but it’s actually deciding to pop up. Also the other ones are all different sizes depends on how many stems it’s trying to produce, how much power is left in the tuber, and just how lazy and stubborn it wants to be. Wish you the best of luck!
