Wouldn’t the hitting on the branch damage it?
Have you using it on bamboo? They grow a lot faster.

If it was cutting it to a sphere, shouldn’t the plant not get stuck on the contraption quickly as it would be trimmed?
Is it adjustble? I believe you’ll want to make it a smaller sphere first to make sure there’s a lot of branching as soon as possible so it starts growing in all directions.
