Update on the progress of the really big neglected candelabra that needed to move I posted about last week. I was able to get it out of the house today in fairly large chunks as pictured.

The pre-cut up picture is the last picture

When I got it down to the lower stalk, I really thought I would be able to lift it from the pot and out of the dirt. Remember, it hasn't been watered in god knows how long. But nope. It is solid in that pot. I probably could have left more on the main stalk, but I was worried that as soon as we pulled it away from the wall it was going to break off at the base.

The orange thing is a 1 foot ruler, for scale.

It took 3 of us to cut this up without major injury to anyone. I was glad to have help, I dont think I could have done it alone! Getting through that corking was no joke. It has fresh new growth and looks like it may have bloomed recently?

I actually like the looks of some of the chunks I was able to harvest. So I may keep a few big ones vs many little ones. Ill look closer tomorrow and may change my mind. I am trying to decide if I should water the primary stalk in the current pot, then repot later, or go ahead and repot tomorrow. The pot it is in is a very brittle, very old, plastic pot.

Anyway, I will let the others callus, and then pot them too (as is, or in smaller chunks).

Ill share pictures and updates as I progress.

* if you notice the webs on the plant, those are actual cobwebs, not spider mites. They went from the walls and ceiling to the plant. I will take it (them) outside and give it a good shower tomorrow when its warmer.
