Hello, I’ve had my fiddle for about 5 years and it recently went through a rough winter where we had it in a spot that wasn’t getting enough light. I’ve never repotted it. We moved it to a better window and it’s been getting great light and now it’s working on a revival. It has two new leaves coming out of both plants in the pot, and there is a baby growing at the root. I understand from some research that the baby is likely a sign that it’s fighting for survival due to so much leaf loss. I have two questions:
-
Because it is now so tall and leggy, I would love to prune it about halfway and see it start new leaves at a lower height. Is this possible, since 100% of the leaves are bunched up at the top? Can a fiddle in this state grow without any leaves at all?
-
How long should I wait to try and yank out the baby and propagate it? What’s the best way to cut it?

Chop it!
Disclaimer: you shouldn’t listen to me. I have no clue what I’m talking about. I just see a lot of people do it on this sub.
I’ve recently chopped mine after watching a few YT videos. It’s only been a 2 weeks and I’m starting to get new leaves where i chopped. Looks like I’ll be getting 2 new branches…. I’d try it if I were you.
