Image created with AI from the layout I designed (had to superimpose it over my bare ground to get it to mock it up right). I am more focused on layout right now, the plants will come next!

I should mention I have two medium dogs who will probably be making potty trips over here, hence the rocks and trying to lead them to the dedicated grass patch.

The patch of grass is so weird. Why not leave the back area just a normal rectangle?

I love your perfectly manicured patch of lawn. You should stick a tiny fountain at the end for maximum effect.

A Putt-putt course is now the only reasonable option

Love it. Immediately knew you had dogs who need a potty spot lol.

I think the out house is a nice touch.

I personally don’t love the angles. I would prefer organic curves.

And also I would prefer for AI not to be used for trivial stuff. Draw it with color pencils like I did. It’s fun and good for your brain and doesn’t kill the planet.

I like the layout but just know that the hostas you’ve chosen to go along the house will be quite large eventually. Same with the hydrangeas on the right.
The scale is way off when it comes to ai. I’d look for specifically plants that will stay more on the compact size, otherwise you’ll need a machete to get down the rock path in a few years

Looks good. Maybe add a bench or little gazebo at the end for some hanging out spot.

im a lawn hater so my only critique would be ditch the non native grass and look for a good native sod or some other low lying green groundcover. i really like the angular design and stonework.

I love the way it looks, but I might hate keeping it neat. Getting those nice clean edges around the grassy area can be difficult when using a weed wacker. The plants along the edge will grow over the edge, and grass will try to work itself into the beds. To make life easier, I might do containers of various sizes and heights adjacent to the grassy end to make it easier to maintain. That’ll save you from having to be down on your hands and knees in the area where doggies do their business any time you need to tidy up those beds.

It’s amazingly designed for a simple side yard! The only problem I see is the eventual size of some of the plants. Consider their mature size when planning.

Looks nice but seems pointless, there is no seating or anything for a person to engage or relax with.

  13. Just a big patch of rock, mulch, and grass in an awkward layout for dogs to poop on. Dogs don’t need a fancy grass patch, you could save a few thousand dollars and use a plastic mat and they’d poop all the same. Not that you should, but I’m just saying, a pet toilet shouldn’t be the centerpiece.

Which direction is this facing? Can you do a trellis and have a nice walkway with hanging plants? Or maybe like shelves of plants on the left side facing your building?

Or at least replace the mulch with native plants or something.

  14. Just walk your dogs and loose the grass. It will die from pee soon anyway if you use it as dog toilet.

Could get some lights in there. There’s so many cool options nowadays other than the solar spike lights

  16. I really like the design. You say you have dogs so I’m not sure how practical it is. I’m sorry. the urine will as others say kill the grass and it will look horrible.

I’d suggest something like this for your dogs 🐕 ](https://welshdesignstudio.com/how-to-make-dog-potty-area/)

You could place a stump of wood/pole if they are make dogs.

the urine will as others say kill the grass and it will look horrible.
Would love to see finished project.
