I found this piece of Kalanchoe that I assume is a houseplant that was being carried by someone, on the sidewalk. I'd love to get it to start growing, and so any advice or help would be GREAT!

Thinking of growing it out in my backyard if that will be ok, temp wise. 64F today with a low of 54F. Zone 7b.

7b is going to be too cold for this guy year round. You can pot it up and bring it in for winter or just keep it as a houseplant.

For propping, I think it’s the same as for most succulents. Since it’s already just a stem, you can trim shorter, take off some lower leaves, let the wound callus over, and stick it in a pot. I suppose you could just take some lower leaves off now, make sure the wound where it snapped off is callused over and stick this stem in a pot as it is now, that’s up to you:)
