I’m guessing I should have removed the brown growth. I see new green growth behind it. My iPhone won’t identify the plant like it does other plants!!! Need to know how to take care of them or remove them. Last owners planted them. What’s it called??

It looks like a type of grass, but we’d need to know where you live to know what could be growing there.
You can cut that out since the green shoots will replace those. Ornamental grass.
It’s an ornamental grass, but what kind specifically i’m not sure. Could a type of miscanthus grass (the white stripe makes me think that’s what it is,) or maybe pampas grass? Not exactly sure, sorry!
