Picked this up from the clearance section of a big box store, looked much better there. When I got it home the leaves started to dry out and turn brown after a few weeks. Since then, I've gotten it watered deeply as needed and in direct sun, I've seen a few new leaves (the smaller ones). Had given up on the large original leaves and thought I was on the right path. But, Now I woke up to three of the new leaves on the floor.

Was thinking of a report with better soil, but didnt want to shock it. Was planning to do it after I was having some success, but now this happened.

Any help is appreciated

I would take a look at the roots and repot with better soil. It’s already not doing good so not much risk with repotting
