I first thought it was just a new leaf because she’s been in growth sprout the past few weeks… but then noticed the shape looks different and it might be a FLOWER?ðŸ˜
I couldn’t keep an Alocasia alive before. I only recently figured them out and now she’s flowering for me 😠I’m so proud I need to brag.
I got her ~6 months ago. 5 months ago I switched her to semi hydro 50/50 perlite and stratum. She was adjusting ~2 months and then started growing lots of gorgeous, big leaves. I keep her near humidifier and always keep basic, cheap fertilizer in her water reservoir.

Yes! This an inflorescence. (Not a flower)
Phase one: She will open the inflo. Expect fragrance thru the night into the early morning, perhaps two nights. Each alocasia I’ve had with inflos smell different. Maharani smells like ants. Epilithica smells like cedar. Please lmk what your frydek smells like!
Phase two: by the second night the smell should be less fragrant. The female phase is ending and the male phase will begin. The sheath bends back and the spadix develops pollen.
Phase three: the inflo wilts from lack of pollination (a difficult and involved process).
Also plz note inflos come in pairs. So expect another inflo behind it. If you want to try pollination, save the pollen from the first inflo for the second.
