Hello. I live in Indiana, hardiness zone 6b. I planted this 4 years ago at about 5 feet tall. Its done great every year…until now.

I’m very worried that it’s dead or dying and I have no idea why. We had a very mild winter as well. Help anyone?

Snap a few branch ends, if they snap, not bend it’s most likely gone

Are the other oaks around putting out buds? If so, it’s probably dead. The snap test is the easiest way to tell if it has any life in it.

Remove grass and turf underneath the tree (expose root flare), mulch it, water it and wait for a few weeks.
