Land off Park Lane, Aston, could be transformed into a food court

A former Birmingham garden centre could be turned into a food court complex.

Plans have been submitted to install 20 trailers offering various cuisines at the Park Lane Garden Centre in Aston.

The currently-vacant site would be developed to include customer parking, waste management, utilities, accessible facilities and security.

An access and design statement said each trailer would operate independently under lease arrangements but would be uniform in size and colour scheme, creating a consistent and tidy appearance.

“Branding and signage will be subtle to avoid visual clutter,” the statement said.

The food court would operate daily from 10am to midnight and an on-site management staff would oversee security, cleanliness and waste collection, noise control and customer conduct.

Vehicles would enter and exit the site via a controlled access point from Park Lane.

The statement concluded: “This proposal offers a well-managed, accessible, and economically beneficial use of an otherwise underutilised plot.

“It provides a valuable community hub with diverse food offerings, controlled and quiet operations, and necessary facilities.

“The layout, infrastructure, and operational plans ensure that the site is safe, inclusive, and sustainable.

“We respectfully request Birmingham City Council grants planning permission for the development.”

The plan will go before planners in the near future.
