Hey everyone,

First time begonia owner here.

I have had it for about three weeks. I did what most say and when I brought it home I didn’t touch or move it to help get it acclimated to my apartment. Just gave it water and let it be. I barely even looked at it after reading that sometimes leaves just drop when people bring these home.

Right now, it’s on a shelf with tons of indirect sunlight all day (stronger indirect/some direct light in the afternoon – large SW facing patio window). I watered and used the attached fertilizer (gold find imo, my plants thrive on this stuff).

So my question is, now what? Does it stay in the nursery pot for a little longer? When do I start to stake it and if soon, then with it being so little, what do I use? I see these beautiful plants all over this subreddit that are feet high and I would love to get there (in time, of course) so I am looking for advice now, when she’s still a baby.

Or, am I getting FAR TOO ahead of myself here?

I messed up with my Monstera by basically setting everything up backwards. She’s living, but you know.. she would have done better had I done everything properly in the very beginning.

I have tons of plants that grow down and now want ones that grow up but they seem to be quite fickle.

Thanks in advance! 🌱
