❤Good morning! So sad I have to go to work today because the gardens love my attention, but I work at Lowe’s so going in to help customers find what they really need for their projects. 😊 Garden centers are always packed this time of year so just a reminder to customers – BE NICE TO YOUR CASHIERS! These people look forward to this season all year and really are checking you out as fast as possible. Clearance plants are wonderful finds, but when a manager over ride is necessary think to shop earlier than in the mid day rush. Clearance plants are put out at opening and closing of the store.
❤Your peonies make me want even more in a bunch! Did you mulch that front bed cause the dirt looks bare? Have a beautiful week! 😊
Hello, just wanted to let you know after the daffodils blooms die, I wait about 2 weeks and cut them down half to the near the ground, that way my other plants can get the sun and room to thrive. Before the completely die to the ground, may go in and cut some more to keep my flower bed looking nice
I’m NOT complaining but I think we’re getting all of your rain this year. The last several years we have been in a severe drought so I’m thinking ALL of the rain we’re getting now will help with the depletion of our water table. 🤗🌷💚🙃
I had a perfectly formed evergreen type shrub that did something really funky this year. It’s been in the ground for at least five years looking beautiful, but now it has formed large spaces between each of the top branches. Nothing is broken off, and I’m hoping it will get its form back this summer. at first, I thought a deer had sampled its branches but now I see that they’re just pushed down somehow really confusing. Oh well hopefully it straightens itself back up.🤗🌷💚🙃
I bought a spirea which ended up getting some sort of leaf spot issue so I cut it all the way back and moved it and 2 years later never happened again 🫣
Your gardens are looking good, Matthew. We are getting some much needed rain today (4/18). I look forward to seeing more of your gardens this season. They will “leap” this year & look great!
My gardens in NC have had rapid awakening this year also, even the hostas. It’s been kinda crazy. All of your plants look good except the ajuga 😖 I had a battle with that many years ago and I vowed I would never get close to that plant ever again!
Thank you Matthew. 🌷💚🙃
NEVER trust northern weather 🌷💚🙃
Omg here in flint, we've had so much rain 🌧🫠💯💡
Love your garden, I learn from you and get inspired.
Love the peony row. It’s going to be amazing ❤

Florida has gone hot real fast 84-89🔥 water water water! Your garden is waking up and let the gardening begin 👍😎❤️❤️
Here in north Florida we are in a no burn advisory ( fry conditions), snd the worst drought in 25 years ! Pray for a hurricane ( mild one) to replenish our ground water and ecosystems
Hi Matthew! Our weather in Idaho has been dryer and warmer than usual, too. The nice weather makes it hard not to start buying plants for my containers, but I'm like you though, I don't plant anything until Mother's Day. I don't want to take a chance of losing anything. Your gardens are waking up so pretty. I'm looking forward to seeing your gardens and what you do this year. I love ajuga, but plant them in containers. Thank you so much for sharing!
I enjoyed seeing how your garden is doing. So many lovely plants. We are dry here too in the Hudson Valley NY Zone 7a — some sporadic light rains but well below our spring averages. I love bulbs and we had a pretty good daffodil season until the temps seesawed into the 80's, which also caused the tulips to leap into bloom. It's beautiful while it lasts. I try to plant things in and around the bulbs to mask the dying foliage. We are past our average last frost date but there is a low of 31 in the forecast for next week so although I am hardening off my tender seedlings I am not putting anything in the ground yet.
Here in North Ky been quite dry here too too warm too early also. My spring bulbs fried. Still mad! And my gold birch leaf spirea does the same thing. I sprayed with Neem. We will see. Hope for rain. Take care
The safe clumping from lillyturff is liriope muscari such as 'big blue'. Liriope spicata is the spreading form of lillytuff. Not as aggressive in northern areas with heavy clay soil, but does spread. If such soil is dry it can actually stuggle a bit. There is a less aggressive variegated form of spicata called 'Silver Dragon' that can be hard to find but is rather pretty in a contained area.
Drought in NC too, heavy thick pollen. Otherwise, gorgeous Spring 😊
Looks good 😊😊😊
hope you’ve gotten some rain since you recorded this video! i’m in northeast ohio and we have a freeze advisory tomorrow and probably the next night, too! 🥶this weather has been wild, i wish i could send you some of the rain we’ve been getting here!
Sounds like your weather was not any different than we here in south east Texas
I love ajuga. I have the chocolate something. So pretty.
Great timing on the herb garden update! I’m doing my own garden overhaul and just finished my coleus garden overhaul; seeing your progress keeps me motivated for my next project!
I was born & raised in So California and never had a long span of rain in spring, it usually all came in a couple days. I am in SW Mo now and still getting used to the difference in gardening, relearning everything and lost 3 beautiful roses this winter/early spring with severe freezes. Yesterday’s storm left us with 5 3/4 inches, 20 mile winds, about 20 inches since the last week of March, at least the tornados were over 70 miles north. April showers sure are bringing May flowers. Thank you for your encouragement in the garden.
In many areas over last 2 years, Ohio has had a drought. Hope no drought in Ohio this year. Praying for rain weekly this season.
I love the rainbow weigela – I have a hedge of them and 12 total 🎉❤ hope they work great for you too!
Hi Matthew. Loving your hat. My husband needs one like that for sure. Do you remember where it w purchased? The gardens are looking beautiful..the warmth is coming to stay, soon.
We got a bunch of rain in central Illinois when we were in drought before that.. Also tornadoes. Sunrise sunset is a cool easy elegance rose . I have it and it give you coral and pink colors. It transitions from one to another – I have it mingling with a white crystal fairy rose and that is a great combination. Your garden beds are really wide- I would be nervous that the weeds would take over.
I have a question, I noticed some spider webs on your spirea…. I also get these in the spring. My question is, are a they good or bad? I usually just take a blind eye to them. Lol Thanks for sharing your yard and answering my question
