What’s your favorite plant? My favorite is Brosimum alicastrum, a forgotten tree of the Yucatán and Mesoamerica lost to time. This mysterious tree produces seeds which can be used as a flour for baking or a powder for drinks. Really quite an amazing species Brosimum alicastrum.
The fruit of Brosimum alicastrum change from orange to red to signal they’re ready to eat by birds, monkeys, and other foragers, thus dispersing the seeds.
