I'm worried that if I just dump a pile of soil on the ground it'll shift and wash away.

I know that mulch does slow erosion, but I want a raised mound of soil, I'm going to want it to be there for years.

I'm assuming that if I plant something on the mound, the roots will eventually hold it into place.

I went to the Japanese Garden in Carmel Indiana and I liked this feature.

Their garden was cute, it had some great features.

Personally I would have made it a little less. ……ornate. But in not emperor of Indiana.

The boulders, plants, mulch, edging, decent compaction and a more gradual slope where there’s no boulders all help stop the erosion.
