I’ve just been told by my coworker that I’m starting out with a difficult plant as a newbie. I’ve tried some methods to avoid overwatering, 2-inch method and checking if the pot is considerably lighter when lifted. But those cues aren’t quite helpful to me and one leaf came out yellow.

Should I just wait until the leaves are droopy? I think that’s a pretty clear sign. But I’m worried I’ll be drying out the soil that way.

It’s really not a difficult plant, don’t worry! You have a monstera adansonii there. Try learning more about it’s needs.
You don’t have to worry much about underwatering, it’s pretty forgiving and would much rather be too dry than too wet. I think the methods you’re currently using are fine. The Main issue I see is the nursery pot being too big for the pot it’s standing in, plants need airflow otherwise the roots stay wet for too long and suffocate due to a lack of oxygen, even if you don’t overwater them.
