AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – Community leaders and residents will gather on Wednesday for the official launch of the Allen Homes Community Garden.
The project is led by Black Farm Street Inc. in partnership with Augusta Locally Grown, the City of Augusta Housing & Community Development Department, the Augusta Housing Authority and the Greater Augusta Arts Council.
The garden features raised beds, irrigation, gathering space, a basketball court and public art.
The project aims to support food access, education, and community connection.
“This project is about creating spaces that support people and strengthen community,” said Lashawndra Robinson, Executive Director of Black Farm Street Inc.
The event will take place at 526 Hines Street from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. It is free and open to the public.
