Hi! I just got a little plant and I'm new to this. Would someone be able to please explain if this is rot? This was a picture from like 2 weeks ago when I got the plant. The stem isn't soft or anything, but I've noticed a few leaves shrivel and turn black and white. The soil was dry when I took it out of the soil. I'm at a loss.
Any advice would be appreciated, please and thank you!

If you’re afraid of roots rot, then simply cut off the darkened part. Wait for the cut end to calloused and stick it back in soil. Don’t water until several days later. Heck I would even for for a week at least. That brings up the next factor. How is your soil? It looks like pumices mixed in? Pot is on the big size so you may have to make the soil even more inorganic, and water even further out. Oh and increase the lighting, more light with longer period. The top shows clear sign of etoliation.
its normal for bottom leaves to shrivel up and dry out (it’s called reabsorption) but dehydration and etiolation both speed up the rate at which it happens. rotten leaves are mushy (like.. wet. reabsorbed leaves that haven’t fully dried are soft but dry) and somewhat transparent. this just looks like reabsorption, i don’t see any signs of rot :p
