September 1944. Allied commanders launched Operation Market Garden, a bold plan to end the war quickly. Thousands of paratroopers dropped behind enemy lines in the Netherlands, aiming to capture key bridges. At Arnhem, British forces landed expecting light resistance—but they were wrong. German troops surrounded them, cutting off supplies and reinforcements. Days turned into a desperate fight for survival. Ammunition ran low, hope faded, yet they kept holding their ground. Outnumbered and isolated, most were captured or killed. The bridge was never secured. That failure delayed victory—and proved even the boldest plans can collapse under brutal reality.

A Bridge Too Far. Very good movie based on this event. Lots of big names in that movie.
