I posted this on the beginner thread a couple of days ago but didn’t receive any advice.

Hello everyone, I’m a beginner living in Taipei Taiwan. I have a duranta erecta. I wasn’t intending to make a bonsai but the overall structure wasn’t very pleasing. It is a clump of three trunks. I read that you can do a trunk chop of these trees and that they respond well. And well, they have quickly sprouted vigorous green growth. But now what do I do? Just let it go crazy? And then start shaping in a year or so?

If you’re not familiar with this tree, they have delicate purple and white flowers that smell great. Like vanilla. Bees and butterflies love them. The small berries are poisonous.

It’s interesting to me that the leaves are growing to larger max sizes after the chop. I’m sorry for the poor photo. You can only send one, so I decided to show the overall plant. I don’t think you can tell much from the photo other than it has lots of new growth. 🤷‍♂️
