Was gifted this little one today and the sticker on the bottom says “Lemon Cypress Topiary”.

It’s store bought but the stems weren’t matching with what I was finding online for plant care, so I came here to ask and be more sure. I’m guessing it’s from a Trader Joe’s. If region matters for what stores buy what, I’m in Southern California.

I would greatly appreciate any identification and advice combo!

It’s probably a Cypress from the looks of it. Though it could be some kind of juniper. I’m in ohio though. my suggestion would be to crush a piece of the foliage, and if it’s a lemon cypress it should smell like citrus. Hope this helps.

Cupressus macrocarpa ‘Goldcrest’. Looks like it may have gone unwatered recently and died. Or overwatered and died. Either way it doesn’t look very happy to me. Check the bark of the stem to make sure it’s still green. These guys are super fussy and easy to kill don’t feel bad if it doesn’t make it.
