How many buds do you see?

Hello! My fig exited dormancy last month and began sprouting a new leaf. She is a couple feet tall and I decided to begin growing new branches, so I cut off the new growth with shears.

Fast forward to this past week, and the place where the new leaf was originally sprouting has grown something of a bud out of the trunk, and a new side bud has also emerged! However, as you can see from the last photo, only the side bud has started pushing out a leaf.

My question is: does it look like the smaller bud will grow its own leaf/branch? Or is that just residual growth from the leaf I pinched off? I’m really hoping my fig won’t have a single lopsided branch off the main trunk! Thanks!
