I've recently moved to a home with a 9 metre long garden and a number of competing trees.
A pine, monkey puzzle, another green leafed tree and a long thin one (excuse my ignorance). I'm new to the idea of trimming trees and am at a bit of a loss for where to begin considering the options.
I have learnt an amount about the pine, and will begin removing dead branches, but it and the monkey tree are fighting. I would love to be able to sculpt the pine into a bit more of an expressive shape but I fear I may be too late to properly sculpt it as it is already quite large in this small garden. The roots were already slightly exposed but I have just spent a month removing bamboo from throughout the garden so every bit of soil has been turned over and I will be replacing the soil to cover roots.
The monkey puzzle is gorgeous but feels out of control and in direct competition with the pine.
We have little love for the tall thin tree and the leafy green tree. It had white flowers a month ago but now it just seems to be another thing fighting for light in our north facing garden.
I'm committed to learning how to manage these and or properly care for them, but I don't know where to start with the pine or the monkey puzzle.
Can anyone lend some advice?
Thanks,
