Did some damage at a local garden shop and came up with this. I’m quite happy with it.
I have been considering using a soil cover for the aesthetic but I’m on the fence.
it’s going to be a little tricky with a tropical succulent (string of x) and alpine succulents (sempervivum). the former wants consistent (mild) moisture and filtered light while the latter wants dryer soil and direct light.
Very pretty arrangement, but I would only bottom water, and keep in a west facing window or afternoon shaded area outdoors. You are right about a soil cover but only on top of the string of pearls, so that they retain some extra moisture.

I love making these! The best part is once you have a bunch of established succulents, you can keep propagating new bowls!

This one is currently my fave but it’s so overgrown! I need to repot but I just keep taking cuttings. After this pic I snipped it way back.
