Welcome, gardeners! Today I’m planting up three stock tanks using the exact same Proven Winners annual combination, but trying something a little different by changing the placement in each container to see how it affects the overall look. This mix of gomphrena, supertunias, evolvulus, and lemon coral sedum creates beautiful color and texture, and it was so fun to see how simple design choices can completely change the feel of a planting 🌸 Enjoy!

  1. Janey – you are a star – you work so hard to come up with original ideas that inspire – I love it. They all look great but I am kinda loving the asymmetrical one.

  2. Absolutely love this idea! Gardening is all about changing things up and experimenting, especially in containers! I think if you had 3 gardeners, 3 stock tanks and all the same plants, you would see similar results planted up as that's what makes gardening such an art as everyone's personality comes out and there's no wrong way! Can't wait to see them grow! Ask again in a few months which one is your favorite, it'll be fun seeing the results!

  3. From a distance, the chartreuse LCS growing in front of/ contrasted with/ against the black fence ties all three tanks together. Thanks for the inspiration. If you were to design all three from even further away, what would you like to see across the full width? From which vantage points is the group seen? Then the closeup detail plants will sort themselves into place initially by color and height, probably. How about an experiment planting something tall and amazingly photogenic, like hollyhock! we shall enjoy whatever you decide to do. Hidden fairy gardens? 😊

  4. I love the one on the far right the best, where they're all grouped together; they'll all be gorgeous though, flowers just do their thing so well no matter where they land haha πŸ™‚

  5. Consider variegated Dianella in the stock tanks next year. Taller and sword shaped leaves, white edged will be gorgeous against the fence.

  6. I love your plant choices for these troughs! I maybe like the thriller, filler, spiller idea of the first one but that is just my opinion only. Your channel is probably my favorite though I am in a very different zone than you. I live in Virginia in zone 6b.

  7. I think the lavender petunia will glow in the transition into evening. I have lavender impatiens every year and it really stands out as the sun is going down and into the evening.

  8. This will be great to watch the different development. I just know for me it would drive me crazy to have them all different, I would automatically have the two outside planters done the same as you did the one on the left. But, great experiment! Zone 3 Manitoba πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦πŸ’ͺ❀️

  9. What if you covered the concrete there with small rocks like you bordered your beds with? That might cover up the water and discoloured concrete so you wouldn’t even notice it. Just a thought. Everything looks beautiful ❀❀❀

  10. Great idea!!! You do you!! And you don’t know what will happen until you do it!! It’s all about learning what works and what doesn’t!!! Can’t wait to see what it looks like!!!
