Hi all,

I bought a 6ft FLF (named her Figgy Marley) on March 22nd and giving it 4-6 weeks to acclimate in my home before making any changes to it (e.g., new pot, possibly pruning so it branches out more). I did some reading online, but since there are some FLF experts in here, I’m looking for feedback:

  1. Acclimate: Is 4-6 weeks long enough to acclimate? I read online that was the recommended duration. I live in Vermont, in case that matters.

  2. Transplant: The new pot I plan to transplant it into is a 17.5" terra cotta pot with one large draining hole. Would you recommend a plastic pot instead that has numerous drainage holes? Not sure l'll find a terra cotta one with numerous drainage holes.

3A. Prune: If I want to prune, how much time after repotting should I wait, since pruning is stressful on plants?

3B. Prune: Figgy is actually 3 in one pot. I'll include a photo of the base of her stems. Considering there are 3 in one pot, should I not prune any of them because it might get too crowded if they branch off?

  1. Separate: Should I separate them so that I can prune them to branch off? However, they might be growing in a "one cluster root system," in which case I probably shouldn't separate them. I have very high ceilings for them to be able to grow tall, but I would love for them to be more tree-shaped (not necessary, though)

Thank you for any suggestions. This is my first FLF, and I went big! Really want her to feel at home, happy, and thrive.
