How are the root flares turning out since starting with such a small tree?

Is it common to run irrigation underground for trees? Wouldn’t the growing/expanding roots cause massive problems in the future, causing many underground leaks that will be hard to find/access?

Have you named them? We did a volunteer tree planting event at a look park. And named each of the 5 trees our family planted. We visit occasionally and say hi!

Have been in a gardening midlife crisis recently, fretting that it’s too late to plant things whose maturity I’ll live to see. But of course the idea is for these plants and gardens and their positive effects to outlive us and our children too. Am resolved to find community tree-planting endeavors near me and do some good.
