hibiscus, probably specifically rose of sharon. I have been growing them in my living room for a few years now and they bloom every july/august where I am.

rose of sharon is basically hibiscus’s chill cousin that shows up in summer and steals everyone’s attention

Rose of Sharon for sure, those trumpet-shaped flowers are pretty distinctive once you know what to look for.

Rose of Sharon. Listed as an invasive species in several US states. A great and non invasive option would be swamp rose mallow for wet spots or hardy hibiscus for dry spots.
Rose of Sharon self seeds like it’s going out of style and you’ll be battling keeping it under control for years to come. I killed all of mine a few years ago and STILL have volunteers popping up all over my yard.

Beautiful Rose of Sharon. I’ve lost 2 in my life. One to moving and 1 to extreme weather. Now I’m enjoying yours. May need to plant one!
