Need some moral support from yall to take the plunge. I know the current trajectory isn't sustainable and would be better off rooting the tip for stability and esthetic but its just so hard to pull the trigger. Tip me over the edge guys! Thank

“Please don’t cut me father, I love you, I’m just a baby cactus” 😂 jk
It’s small enough you could up pot and correct course. Leantek could balance itself out naturally too
bigger pot bury a little deeper. no need to cut, it will fatten at the base over time and balance itself with offsets.
I just cut 4 of my babies, went back and forth for a week lol, it’s all good, they will grow pups and you will have nice tips.
It’s always easier to take cuttings after a few drinks

Thanks
Add a stake for support and let it ride. You can get years out of it without cutting. But if getting pups excites you, cut away.
No
Sulphur both, let the mature growth root and then plant, gonna be an absolute stunner when fully grown in
You could uppot, secure up and let it ride too. In this case I would probably cut though. It’s a nice piece.
I wouldn’t say definitely, if you leave it, it will figure it out and grow huge. If you cut it, you have a new clone, and possibly basal pups and multiple branches from the top.
No. Shore it up and keep pushing. Then plant a five foot tall thick cutting this fall.
Why disgrace such a small cactus? They grow to be 17 feet/5 meters tall when they are adults.
You are slowing down the growth of the cut part until it gets roots.
The part of your cutting that ends up underground cannot photosynthesize so there is less surface area of cactus that gets sunlight to give it growth power.
I cut mine when they are over 6 feet because at that length I have trouble lifting them into winter storage.
The rational thing to do to maximize growth is to take cuttings as infrequently as possible!
But on this forum there are many irrational **cut-o-holics that love playing with knives**.
I wouldn’t cut it.
