Hi all, I just picked this Thai Monstera a few days ago on clearance. I’m planning to change the soil this week but probably keep it in the nursery pot for now. Any tips to keep this healthy from the get go? My monstera deliciosa I was a newbie so it struggled for a while as I had no clue how to look after it.

LOTS of light, chunky well-draining potting mix, and you can go pretty heavy on the fertilizer.

Wait until the soil is mostly dry and then water *heavily*, then don’t water again until the soil is dry again.

While not necessary, it’s a really good idea to provide the plant some kind of vertical support. This could be a moss pole,a plank, or a garden stake, anything sturdy should work. Take your time and research what you think will work best for you since there are pros and cons to each method of support.

And don’t rotate the plant! The front of the plant should face the primary light source, and then it stays that way. That’s okay, that’s just how they grow. Monsteras have a front and a back. Don’t try to fill them out by rotating the plant,or else you’ll eventually end up with a hot mess.

on clearance? score!! there’s nothing wrong with her! usually the plants on clearance at bunnings are suffering from a lack of light and sever over watering (or even under watering)

Chunky soil, don’t go for any fancy support just yet she’s too young and only ever attach her with the main stem. Thai Cons are very susceptible to root rot and need more light than you think.
