Excellent point alot of these pots you see on line look almost weedy from how busy they are.
Thank you. Do perennials survive in plastic containers during winter. I live in zone 7b , mid Atlantic region and it snows. I do not have a greenhouse and I don’t have the space to bring them inside.
What white flower to you have with the red geraniums. It’s beautiful!
Hey, good video, though I wish you had mentioned "Ollas" for watering ! I have a couple of large pots on a stoop that is in BRIGHT SUN, all day. I DO check the Ollas daily, but it normally gets me a couple of days without hauling water.
Since I only have a tiny stoop, I DO mix a bunch of plants together – as I am limited in space. And, I do like a "spiller". My veggies have a pride of place. I did some beans & eggplant for the first time. I normally have a mix of cherry tomatoes, peppers, etc….
Oh, and almost always marigold. They grow like a weed. So easy !
Good afternoon from north Alabama zone8a/7b I do just one plant useally perennials they do well and u can move them where ever great info and I was one to crowed plants in pots it never lasted 😮😊❤
I've grown strawberries in 2 of my 5 greenstalks and use the smaller 3-tier for lettuce which works really well because I can move the container as the weather dictates. I've grown broccoli, cauliflower, and tomatoes. I didn't like growing a regular tomato plant in one because the plants get so large. I'm thinking of growing flowers in one, too. I'm sold on the greenstalk but I have to admit, I keep them in the side yard because they aren't very attractive but they definitely work!
I enjoyed the video and hearing your chickens! Maybe you can get a shot of them sometime so we can see them lol.
I use containers a lot to grow in. I have a big porch, 14 ft deep x 50 ft long, so I have lots room to put containers. It's covered, so I have to place the pots around the edge of it so they can get some sun and placement is important because one end gets a lot of sun, and the other end doesn't.
My compost is always full of nightcrawlers which makes it rich, so i never have to fertilize any of my containers. I refurbish them in the spring by mixing my compost with some of the previous years soil. Like you, I toss any extra soil in my compost.
Your new roses are beautiful! I love the purple one the most. 😊
I’ve enjoyed container gardening for decades. They do indeed have some specific requirements. It’s good to cover this topic. Perhaps you can talk about using perennials in contianers.
Thank you Pam! ❤
I've been gardening for many years but I always learn something new from you. I agree on planting one species in a pot rather than 2 or 3, so does the wonderful Bunny Guiness! I do not like the look of the greenstacks either, I prefer a vintage look in my garden.
hi pam, thanks for the tips. i have made a few of them. those are some beautiful roses. wish i lived close to you i would love to have the rose. hope that you and family have a great easter.🐰🐇
I have 5 green stalks I love them they grow the best strawberries . I grow flowers and tomatoes and so much more you should get one.
Greenstalk: First year with vertical towers. I use promix amended with perlite and compost. I went from 1 to 4 towers in 5 months. 😅 I mix and match the original size tiers with leaf tiers. Getting spinner base with wheels and rigging an irrigation system is what alleviated common water issues. Hot and dry CA zone 9b. I grow strawberries, salad greens. Herbs, and flowers. Small garden footprint. Great yield if you stick to compact or shallow root varieties.
We have moles, voles, and mice that would decimate in ground veggie garden. Going vertical was the answer for my edible garden.
Hi. I couldn’t tell which link is for the moisture level tester if you wouldn’t mind sharing it again. Thank you!!
Thank you for all of your wonderful videos! Should I have a gutter along my roofline if I want to have climbing roses up my porch posts? Not sure if they would get waterlogged when it rains. Should I plant them in large pots or right in the ground. Thank you So much. You have inspired me to start my gardening adventure.❤
I missed something that I feel is important in this video. Olla Pots can go far in helping with keeping moisture in your containers. Especially if you don't have a drip system. I love using them. Here is my video on using Olla Pots and Terra Cotta Watering spikes in containers: https://youtu.be/h979OSeE0fw
😂I'd like to know more about planting Bulbs in containers & then planting other Plants, like Annuals, on top of them , If that's even a good idea 🤔 Thanks for another great & helpful video ❤
In the first few seconds are those red geraniums and the white little flowers alyssum? These white flowers seem more delicate, hard to tell if they are alyssum or not, the two together like that are very pretty. Just finished watching one of your tours in August and all are so beautiful. The form on the two new roses you got is so beautiful, will be striking in a vase.
I use the”green stalk”. Great for herbs + leaf lettuce, ‘ spinach:. I also bought the supports that attach around to try cherry tomatoes this yr. I like the terra cotta color. Highly recommend
Green stalk: Jess at “roots & refuge” offers discount code, usually spring sale is mother’s day.
I'm recently rezoned as 5a from 4b. But I don't think my garden got that news.
I ordered a heucherella that's supposed to be for Z5, but I plan to pot it and overwinter it in my unheated garage. I also will do the same with quart-size PW roses. When they're "teenagers" only then I will plant the 🌹 in the landscape.
Gardening is all about experimentation, right? 🤷🏼♀️
One year ago there are a lot of videos you made sitting in an area that looks like a wooden fence is around you, a table, chairs, plants, some kind of umbrella above (?) … what is that area? Was this your greenhuse before your new greenhouse was built?
Love my green stalk , grew tomatoes in it last year. Picked my last tomato this Jan. I am in central Texas . Herbs do good so do lettuce and spinach.
I am in my third year of discovering my love of gardening. I got some Greenstalks last year and they were game chargers for me and motivated me to grow even more. I highly recommend them. Maybe try the 3 tier one for a first try, I bet you’d love it.
I purchased as GardenStalk last fall and I am excited to try it. I got the discontinued light pink. I plan to grow strawberries.
I have a green stalk and I have not been able to grow anything in it. There’s not enough room in each container for root development and you can’t keep it moist enough
I have large concrete planters near the entrance of my driveway. I would like to plant the Blackeye Susan known as Trove Treasure. I would be able to lift these planters in the winter, would mulch be enough to protect them?
