Just finished up some lemoncello. I THINK the spent lemon peels will be fine to compost, but wanted to check with the community. It’s the peels of ten lemons that soaked in vodka for 3 weeks. Yay or nay?
>Lemon peels and sugar work their magic to form this beautiful, bright and sunny syrup that is great on everything from drinks to pancakes.
I do this work lemon and orange. I even store and accumulate peels/zest in the freezer until I have enough to use. You just put sugar on top and wait, after a few days the oil and moisture will be extracted. It’s hard to believe, but it works.
Then I strain out the peels and compost them. Or use them as candied lemon peels chopped finely to add to cookies (they can be a little bitter, so experiment first).
It’s a great sweetener for tea, and for making cake frosting. Or mix a little into beaten cream cheese and spread it on something

Should be fine as long as you don’t pour a bunch of alcohol on your pile I think everything will be fine
Perfectly fine
Vodka = Potato …. Potato good?
That’s my logic 😂😂
Send it. Leave it on top of the pile for a day or two to let the alcohol evaporate off before turning it in.
If you have extra peels ( not extracted with alcohol), do this:
