As the gardening season gets well and truly under way, many of us are rolling up our sleeves to spruce up our outdoor spaces. However, one woman who set about doing exactly that, claims the experience changed her life completely, after she stumbled upon a wholly unexpected discovery buried beneath her garden.
The woman, who shares her property renovation journey on TikTok, recently opened up about the find, marking a year since she unearthed the eerie surprise. She laid out the full story in a recent video, recounting precisely what unfolded during what was supposed to be a routine spot of gardening.
It is not the first time such a tale has captured public attention either. Only last year, another couple revealed they had made an equally baffling outdoor find while digging up their own lawn.
Alongside the video, she wrote: “The day that changed my life! One year ago today, it was also a gorgeous sunny day, and I went out to clear the garden and ended up finding 17 porcelain dolls.
“I’m not scared of porcelain dolls, so this was just mega fun and exciting to me, but everyone online thought I was mental. The girls ended up going viral on the other app, and I got loads of lovely followers, but they were following a reno account.
“It’s been a mystery ever since and still no idea why they were buried!” In the clip, she revealed the dolls were discovered roughly a year ago while she was digging outside, describing how they had been “tucked up and buried” in the soil.
She ultimately unearthed a total of 17 porcelain dolls, a process that “took a while”, and despite the somewhat eerie nature of the discovery, she found the whole experience “hilarious”. Lining them up in a row, it was plain to see just how surreal the ordeal must have felt.

To this day, she remains none the wiser as to why they were buried, yet admitted the discovery “changed her life”. Further videos show her proceeding to bathe and clean the dolls as thoroughly as she could.
Since being posted online, the video has racked up thousands of views and hundreds of comments, with viewers left utterly gobsmacked at the sight of the dolls.
One person made their thoughts clear, writing: “This is how horror films start”. Another added: “Why on earth did someone create a graveyard of 17 porcelain dolls in your garden?”
A third replied: “I used to bury dolls when I had decided they had ‘died'”. Meanwhile, a fourth commented: “I’ve seen too many horror films. I would of moved house finding them”.
One more also suggested: “A little bit creepy. They are a lot bit creepy”. Someone else noted: “Omg, I would never set foot in that garden again”.
Judging by her subsequent videos, it appears she has chosen to keep the dolls. Given they were caked in mud upon discovery, she decided to give them a thorough wash.
In a later clip, she revealed the dolls have now been “out of the ground a full year”, adding that she personally thinks they look “pretty good”, and jokingly suggested they could serve as the “best deterrent” against any would-be intruders.
While we may never discover how they ended up there, it’s evident the story has fascinated many. It just goes to show we never truly know what’s lurking beneath our gardens.
