Hi all, I am fairly new to house plants (~2 years)
I have dealt with/ learned about root rot and thrips in the past year.
As I was watering my plants I saw flies and immediately feared it was thrips again. I used a magnifying glass and did see white dots but it could just be dust as I didn’t see it move around. The discoloration of my money tree leaves and the browning of new unfurling monstera leaves does make me think it is thrips.. but I seem to only see them in fly form.
Then someone mentioned fungus gnats to me, and maybe that is it? Would someone want to take a look at these pictures and help me figure out what it can be? Last year I had to give up on my monsteras as the thrips infestation was just too persistent. I really hope it is something I can fix 🙏🏻
Light: I have a very luminous room, the money tree gets quite some direct sunlight, the others less so but it is a very luminous room and there seems to be good new growth, problems started as the weather got better and I keep my window open a lot, so something like thrips could have gotten in 🙁

That’s a fungus gnat yeah. Order some nematodes that eat fungus gnat larvae and water your plants with them. Easy cure thankfully.
Thrips larvae are yellow, not white.
There is no insect damage on any of the leaves on the monstera. The monstera leaves look like they got chewed on by a dog or cat. Monstera are the biggest thrips magnets.
As for the other plant, you should check the underside of the leaves after sunset. That’s where/when thrips are most active.
