It looks like clay… really cool plant.
I don’t have one but they aren’t uncommon. But I do think they are very cool and definitely one of coolest of the common types.

That thing is going to etiolate like crazy in that spot. Totem pole takes no less than full Arizona sun. I have some in the north side of my house here in AZ and they dont grow to their full potential. In a bedroom window is a slow death.
