It's happening! This is (I believe) a Sayuri.
I can't even guess how old it is. There was a large mother plant all crowded into an 8" pot. It was dense with leaves all around 4ft tall and they were not happy. The plant was surrendered to my SIL who works at a plant nursery, she split it up and gave me a chunk about 3 years ago. You can see the original chunk in pic 4 on the left all tied up, it's super droopy and has crispy spots. But I nurtured it and it kept shooting out babies. I think there's 4 plants in the pot now and Ive sperated out 2 others. This guy has been with me for 3 years and moved in 3 different houses with me. Hes gone through periods of over watering, resulting in bent leaves and most recently has been through a bit of a drought. It seems like that could be the push that caused him to flower, Im not sure. He gets super bright light in his window from mid afternoon all the way to sunset. I'm proud of him
The first 2 photos were taken today (4/18), the 3rd was taken 4/10, and the last photo in the thread is from 3/27 the first day I noticed the flower stalk. So it took a little less than a month for the flowers to open. There's still about half left to open, they're going from the bottom up.
