It progressively got more brown and I was like wait a second…why is it a perfectly rectangular?! So I checked the camera…it was caused by our rubber backing doormat in 90° direct sunlight while our house was getting power washed by a contractor😤 ugh. It’s fixable. If it’s dead I’ll just take a patch from the backyard. But come on!!

Classic people patch. Keep an eye out for straight lines and perfect circles.

holy smokes! how long was it left there? if it was there all day in high temps i could see it getting super hot and suffocating the lawn

Some contractors use soap in their machines, perhaps it was that in combination?

I just had some plumbers replace my water heater tank. Guess where they decided to drain the existing hot water? Directly into the middle of my lawn and I now have a patch about twice that size in my newly seeded (last fall) lawn. I feel your pain.

  4. Highly doubt that killed it, should come back in like 3-5 business days

I have a thick flexible plastic trash bag insert I use to hold the bag open to dump grass clippings in. I threw it on my lawn for about 30 minutes last summer while mowing during peak summer time. It is about the same size as the door mat in your pictures and it did the same thing to my grass. I was looking at my security cameras trying to figure out what happen when I realized what it was. 🤦🏼‍♂️
