Planning on adding rights skull cap and damianita to this garden bed, should I dig out out completely or leave a boarder of the grass for now? It’s on a slight slope, and I’m worried a little bit about the rain washing away the dirt. Would it just be better to dig it out a little bit?

Currently, it has shrimp plant that has been thriving for the last five years on complete neglect, and the rest of it was full of weeds.

Yeah I would dig it out just so you can have a fresh start.

If you don’t want grass in the bed with your other plants, it’s best to remove all grass from the bed..and have something else as a border.

You can always mulch until you’re ready to plant. 🙂

Just this morning, I was in our garden and thinking about a raised bed with some cinder blocks I have. At first, I was just going to place a few to get them out of the way. Then, I thought, “well, might as well use these other ones”. Then, I leveled them out and completed the bed. Then, I added some extra bags of soil and soil from pots that were out there. ***Now***, I have that raised bed mostly complete and just need to add a little more soil.

I feel really great about it.

TLDR: go ahead and finish what you start as you’ll feel better and won’t have to do it again.

I personally leave a small grass border on my garden because my garden is also my front yard filled with natives that I try to keep it wild looking. The grass border helps with any soil erosion and keeping mulch from running onto the sidewalk.
